What will you choose to believe in 2007?
Posted by Patricia Müller under Blogs and Blogging , Opinion | 11:21 pm[45] Comments
This post is my submission to the ProBlogger Group Writing Project – Reviews and Predictions.
Instead of trying to predict anything for the upcoming year, I’m going to use this post to talk about a belief I have about the future – and I will start with a Henry Ford quote that sums it all up:
Whether you think you can or can’t, either way you’re right.
The future is unwritten. It will be whatever we choose to make of it – individually and collectively. This is a very empowering belief. When you realize that you’re the only one in control of your future and take charge, whatever your circumstances are in the present, things start to change.
I’m a strong believer in the Law Of Attraction – just in case you missed the “subtle” ribbon at the top of the blog, “The Secret” is a movie about the Law of Attraction – go watch it if you haven’t yet, it’s a good place to start if you have never heard of the Law of Attraction. I will not go into details in this post, but I’ve had plenty of experiences this year that make it very hard for me not to believe that whatever we experience in life is a direct result of the predominant thoughts we hold – be they conscious or unconscious. We attract the things, people and circumstances that are congruent with our thoughts and beliefs.
So, with this in mind, I repeat: 2007 will be what we make of it. I for one intend to make it a wonderful year for myself – and do that consciously. All of us can do that. We can all create a wonderful future for ourselves, our society, our planet. If you don’t believe you can, well… like Henry Ford said, you’re right. If you believe you can, though, you are right too. So…
What will you choose to believe in 2007?

Hi Patricia
What a simple and poignant entry for the writing project. It really is THE question we all need to ask ourselves.
Thank you for including Evolving Times in the links. I’m honored!
And I have no doubt that you will make 2007 a wonderful year for yourself!
Happy holidays.

Hi, Ed,
thanks!
I love your blog. I found it through the Steve Pavlina forums, in your signature, I think. I also added a link to your blog in the sidebar a while ago.
And yes, it is THE question we all need to ask ourselves.
Happy holidays to you too.
Patricia.

I got hooked on the LOA after watching ‘The Secret’, and I got hooked on blogging after reading Steve Pavlina!
I’m totally excited about 2007 because even though I don’t believe that you need a date on a calendar to start any endeavor in your life, 2007 will be my first full year with knowledge of the LOA on my side, so it will be grand!
Happy Holidays!

Hi Again
I came across this quote from the Bhagavad Gita that expresses your belief perfectly:
“Man [or woman] is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.”
I wonder if Henry Ford studied the BG?
And a big thank you for the link! It’s quite an honor to be in there with those heavy-hitters.

The Law of Attraction was fun. It was invented by Napoleon Hill and I was a big fan of both Hill and Abraham-Hicks who have resurrected it. I spent a lot of money buying all of the Abraham Hicks books and mp3s and I don’t regret it.
But Abraham-Hicks, unfortunately, have changed it to say that we attract EVERYTHING that happens to us – even the bad. Napoleon Hill never said that.
I thought about this for a long time. For 15 years before I was very active in writing and reading about domestic violence and child abuse.
The pattern we found was quite different from what the Law of Attraction suggests it should be: bullies look for sweet, smaller people who won’t fight back and don’t have protection. It’s that simple and that ugly. If the Law of Attraction were really at work 100% of the time then we’d have to conclude that women and children – unlike men – have really bad thought patterns and that would add abuse and neglect to already-hideous injury.
But I do believe we CAN attract good to us and people have known this for 2000 years! It’s not NEWS or a big secret! After thinking and reading even more I realized… hey… isn’t this about a power greater than us? And aren’t we attracting when we pray? Let’s give credit where it’s due, I suddenly said to myself having been an atheist for years!
So it was the Law of Attraction that actually brought me back to praying and believing in God – because let’s face it… Source Energy, Infinite Intelligence, The Cosmos, the Universe – these were all terms invented to make the concept of “God” more palatable to atheists.
Whatever works

2007 is already gone, so what you have chosen to believe, did it happen to be true or not.

Loving: “ Love is the highest energy and the most powerful one of all. In intending, there must be love so that creativity and abundance can take place. Love is the expression of you to grow and become what you are capable of being. For instance, if you are not doing what you love, you are actually moving away from the The Power of Intention. You begin to attract more dissatisfaction, disharmony and darkness into your life. On the other hand, if you love what you do, you are at the highest state of creation.”
